BEST HUSBAND EVER!!!

So have I told you how AMAZING my husband is lately?? Well, he is pretty much the greatest thing since indoor plumbing! Why? you may ask... Well let me tell you....

I am 9 months pregnant, very uncomfortable, and still working full time. I work at a Doctors Office, and tonight we are the doctor that is "on call" for our call group. (a call group is a bunch of docs in the area that take turns seeing each others patients "after hours" aka after 5 o'clock pm.) So what that means for me, is about an 14 hour day. Well this afternoon to my surprise in walks my wonderful husband with these in his hand.

Aren't they B~E~A~U~T~I~F~U~L??
Well, can I just tell you that it made me feel like a million bucks. I got a great big smile on my face and immediately started to cry. (I am not going to blame it on being pregnant because I was so touched that I know I would have cried no matter what) I hadn't even read the card yet, but it just made me even happier. (which equaled more tears) this is what it said,
No he didn't misspell Wife, it is a little joke we have and he calls me his "Wif" and I have called him my "Superman" for as long as I can remember. He is always doing sweet little things for me, and leaving random love notes around the house where he knows I will find them. I don't think he will ever know how much it means to me and that it completely makes my day. I am so lucky to be married to such a wonderful man for all time and eternity! He is my very best friend, and I am so grateful for him.

I love you Superman!

2 Months From Today....

I could be a MOM!

(To be honest I will probably go at least a week over my due date, but keep your fingers crossed!!)

2 months = 8 weeks = 60 days = 1,440 hours = 86,400 minutes
That is the equivilant of
Watching 2,880 episodes of Seinfield
24 Hours of church
4 Wednesdays I get off
2 Visiting teaching visits
1 Halloween
1 Thanksgiving
7 Broncos Games
1 Trip to Montana
6 Tanks of Gas
1 Birthday (I'm turning the big 23!)
4 Pay Checks
6 Doctors Visits

Anyway, you get the idea! The end of my pregnancy is coming so fast! I am feeling many different emotions right now. I am very excited, overwhelmed, nervous, and sad all at the same time. I am excited to meet my little man, kiss his chubby cheeks, hold his little hand, and see my wonderful husband hold our son. I am overwhelmed by everything I still have left to do to be ready for him, and all of the holidays between now and then. I am nervous for the delivery, and all of the unknowns that go with it. I am nervous to be a new mom, and worry about all kinds of silly things. I am a little sad, for the last 7 months I have had a constant companion. He has gone everywhere I have gone, eaten all the food I have, he has felt all of the stress I have felt, and cheered me up when it seemed I had nothing to smile at. I know that sounds silly, and I really couldn't be more excited to be a mom and to watch him grow, but I really am going to miss having this special relationship with him.

Making Progress....Crib Quilt Done!

So yesterday I finally finished the Crib Quilt I have been sewing! I am IN LOVE with the material, in fact, I first found it when I was shopping for material for the car seat cover my mother-in-law is helping me make. Anyway like I said, I fell in love with it, and bought enough to make the car seat cover. Well, the more I looked at it, I decided that I had to make the crib quilt out of the same material, so back to JoAnn's I went and bought more! (Don't worry I went to 2 different JoAnn's so that the workers didn't think I was crazy! I know I shouldn't care what the cashiers and fabric cutters at the store think, but I can't help it!...maybe that does make me crazy?)

Enough of my rambling...Here are a couple of pictures of the crib quilt I finished last night (9/26/10)
ENJOY!

up close so you can see the pattern on the fabric

I bordered it in the matching brown polk a dot material, then made and sewed different colored peaks along the outside of the blanket, and to finish it off I tied it with white yarn.

(The reason the peaks in the bottom right corner are pointing up instead of down is because I had not slip stitched the opening closed yet. No Worries, it looks normal now!)

NURSERY SNEAK PEEK

So remember when I told you that I am painting the baby's room in a Swamp Theme? Well my mom and I have been working on it little by little and it is really coming along! I was going to make you wait until we are finished to see any pictures but I am way too excited! These pictures were taken about 3 weeks ago, so we are a lot further then the pictures show, but this will give you a little taste of what we are doing.

On another note, I started the baby's crib quilt yesterday. I got all of the pieces cut out and pinned together, so today all I have to do is sew them together. Then after I get that done all I have left is putting the batting in, flipping it right side out, and tieing it! That may sound like a lot to you, but I see light at the end of the tunnel!

Oh and I almost forgot on Sunday night (9/19/10) I had my first set of Braxton Hicks Contractions. At first I just thought my back was sore, but that is nothing new. But then I couldn't get comfortable no matter what I did, and my tummy was contorting into a really hard, pointy shape! It was after the 3rd "wave" of pain hit that I figured out what it was! ha ha, it is hard to believe that I am getting that close to the end! But just so you know, Braxton Hicks aren't just uncomfortable, they hurt! So don't listen to the baby books...they lie! lol

Just a quick note to Baby McEwan

Dear Baby,

I realize there isn't much room in there for you, and I am sorry, but constantly kicking me in my ribs isn't doing either of us any favors.

Love, Mom

I Felt the "Swamp Monster" Move!

It is official, I felt our baby move! I was laying down watching "So You Think You Can Dance" last night and I felt my lil' swamp monster kicking away at my lower abdomin. It was so fun! I have been anxiously waiting to be able to feel him and after weeks of poking, shaking, and talking to him he finally kicked hard enough for me to feel! No it didn't feel like bubbles or butterflies, it was a bunch of very recognizable KICKS. I guess I skipped the butterfly and bubbles phase because of where my shock absorbing placenta is attached.

Brian has been wanting to feel the baby move for a long time now too, and so when I told him I could feel him he came over and started to talk and push my tummy. I told him he wouldn't be able to feel it from the outside for a long while but it didn't stop him from poking and proding at the baby. :) He could feel WHERE the baby was but couldn't feel him kick. But what was fun was when Brian was pushing on where the baby was, I could feel the baby kick where his hand was! I guess our swamp monster feels squished enough as it is without his daddy pushing on him! lol It is heart warming to have Brian give me AND the baby a kiss goodbye in the morning, and for him to cuddle me and the baby when he is home. He is going to be such a great daddy, and I know that our son will know his daddy's voice when he is born because Brian talks to him all the time. I love my growing family. :)

*We call our baby the swamp monster because I decided the theme for the baby's room is going to be a swamp! (which is not the same as a JUNGLE by the way. ha ha) My mother-in-law Jan called him a swamp monster first because he lives in water and looks like an alien! :)

That's no KICKSTAND, That's MY SON!

Yep that's right, we are having a BABY BOY!!!

On 7/20/2010 Brian and I went to see Dr.H for my 20 week (5 month) check-up. The most important thing they did at the visit was check all of our baby's internal organs, so they could make sure everything was developing correctly. They do this by using a HUGE ultrasound machine. One of the things that is visible at 20 weeks is the baby's gender, but I will talk more on that later. This ultrasound was insane, it was so fun to see our baby look like a baby! (except for when you look at his face straight on, he looks just like an alien!) Our baby weighs 12 Ounces (a can of soda) and is 6 and 1/2 inches long (from the top of the head to the bottom of his tushy) His heart rate is 155 BPM which is a little on the fast end but the ultrasound tech said it was because he was moving around so much! I haven't felt him move yet and I was a little concerned so I asked if that was normal, and Dr.H said that I hadn't felt him because my placenta attached to the front of my stomach. He explained that the placenta can attach anywhere but because of where mine attached it is acting as a shock absorber. So I probably won't feel him moving for another 4 weeks. (He also said that from the looks of the ultrasound I should count my lucky stars I haven't felt him yet because he is one VERY WIGGLY BABY!)

I am proud to introduce you to our little man:
This is his profile when the ultrasound first started, he quickly flipped around to the other side and continued to do somersaults through the ENTIRE ultrasound! ( I love that you can see the teeth that won't start to come in until he is about 6 months)
This is his cute little alien face! They said that when we come back in 4 weeks his face will look more normal and not so extraterrestrial.
Here are our little man's legs from knees to feet.
And speaking of feet here is his little toes!! (see how the 2nd toe is longer than the big toe? Well he got that from his daddy)
As you know Brian thought our baby was going to be a girl, well after seeing our son's business spread eagle he knew a girl was out! The ultrasound Tech got a kick out of these pictures so we got quite a few "junk" shots with clever captions such as the one below that says "WHOA!"!! Ha ha. Brian later asked her if everything looked like it was developing well, and her answer was, "Yes, everything looks great....Except for her vagina!" Our Tech was a hoot and we had a blast.
No doubt about it, our baby is a BOY!!!

Our baby was being a stinker, and kept covering his mouth with his arms and wouldn't let us see his lips to see if he has a cleft pallet or not, so when we go back for our next check-up in 4 weeks we have to have a follow up ultrasound. This is him with his little arm, covering his mouth.

It was so fun to find out we are going to have a boy, and see that he is growing big and strong. I love the ultrasounds because it is the first glimpse of his little personality.

After the Ultrasound we went out to dinner to celebrate with Mom, Liz, and Brian and I. We went to Outback and it was so yummy! I have gone 5 days without throwing up! WAHOO!! Lets pray the morning sickness part is over...(knock on wood)

Its Official, My Pants Don't Fit!

This morning I was looking in my closet for something to wear to work. I found a cute top, and a comfy pair of cropped dress pants. (I know they are comfy because I wore them to work LAST WEEK) As I started to get dressed I noticed something wasn't quite right, I couldn't get the little hook over to the clasp. In my head I was yelling, "WHAT?! THESE HAVE TO FIT! I JUST WORE THEM LAST WEEK!". I only yelled in my head because I didn't want Brian to hear me because I was a little embarrassed. He noticed I was taking a while to get dressed and says to me, "Are ya struggling there babe?" I turned around with a defeated look on my face, shook my head yes, and said, "My pants don't fit". But I thought of an idea! Having been faced with this problem before, (but not because of a baby belly) I ran to the bed, leaned backward, sucked in the best I could, and tried again to clasp the hook. But it failed miserably. As Brian looked on laughing hysterically I told him I didn't understand why it wasn't working, he then said baby belly is a lot different then "belly belly" (that is what he called it so he didn't get put in the dog house. lol ) I really wanted to wear this outfit today and I wasn't going to let something so silly as non-fitting pants stand in my way so I zipped the zipper as best I could, tied the built in belt, said screw you to the darn hook and clasp, and went to work.

When I got there I was talking to my friend Tina about my morning and she said she could help. I went to her desk and she pulled out a rubber band and a paper clip. (MacGyver much?!) She then threaded it through the clasp and around the hooks twice and bata-bing-bata-boom my pants fit!! I had heard of doing that with the button on jeans but I didn't think I could because the clasp was so small. (that's why she needed the paper clip, she unbent it and used it to thread the rubber band through the clasp) So my pants kinda looked like this only with dress pants and a clasp and hook.

*DISCLAIMER*
These are NOT MY PANTS

I am sure I will have many more of these moments before this pregnancy is through, but today it took me off guard. I guess its good because it tells me that my baby is growing big and strong at 18 weeks!! Oh that reminds me, you only have 13 more days to vote on the What Gender are we Having Poll. (it is at the top right side of my blog)

Oh and do any of you moms out there have any suggestions for getting your pre-pregnancy clothes to fit longer. I would like to put off buying new maternity clothes as long as I can! If ya do leave me a comment!

I can't believe they let me do that!!

Since I got pregnant I often find myself thinking about all of the fond memories I had of my childhood. The more I ponder on them and my growing baby I realized that there are many things that my children will probably never experience.

  • Leaving the house first thing in the morning and not returning ALL DAY until it started to get dark. We never told my mom where we were going, and if anything would have happened to us my parents would have had no idea where to start looking
  • POGS/SLAMMERS~ I loved to play pogs, my favorite part of it was winning other pogs from my friends. Kinda like playground gambling.
  • Dirt/Mud~ My all time favorite toy growing up. I had a crazy active imagination and filling small bottles and old pans with dirt/water/and rocks to make everything from pies to slop for pigs to special molds to find evidence so I could catch the bad guys.
  • Firecrackers~ I loved to blow up EVERYTHING with firecrackers. I was very young and George and I had no adult supervision.
  • Riding my Bike to “TOWN”~ we lived 7 miles from Drummond, and I loved to ride my bike on the Frontage Road to my Dad’s Mechanic Shop.
  • Selling Cool-Aid to strangers off of the frontage road. I have had many great discussions with Truck Drivers.
  • School Ski Days~ Twice a year we got to skip school and go skiing instead. My mom always made the best lunches EVER!
  • Running over/Skidding on Rattle Snakes with the 3-wheeler. Enough Said.
  • Hopping over fences and going through rusty “treasures” and ending the day early because you stepped on a nail and have to go get a tetanus shot.
  • Having your parents drop you off in “Town” so you could go Trick-or-Treating with your friends. Being able to circle Drummond TWICE, and NOT having to check our candy before we ate it.
  • SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS~ I remember waking up before the sun even came up and sitting 6 inches away from the TV waiting for the blue screen to turn off and the cartoons to start. I remember talking to my dad as he laced up his work boots and him laughing at me as I shook with excitement. None of this Cartoon Network crap!

There are many things I can’t think of right now but those are a few I have been thinking about over the past week or so. Do you guys have any thing that you did as a child that you would never let your kids do? If so, leave me a comment.

Please leave your 2 cents and help me decide what we are having! We don't find out until our 20 week appointment on July 20th. (if we can wait that long! We could go to the mall and find out early. But we are really going to try to wait) Here is some info if you need help deciding.

  • I have been REALLY MORNING SICK (all day sick is more accurate)
  • I am starting to show but I would say I am carrying more on the middle to low side

Getting poked at the Hospital...Fun Fun!

6/4/10

At my 1st Doctors Appointment with Dr.H, he tested me for dehydration. I was very, very dehydrated so he wanted me to go to the ER that night for IV Fluids. I didn't want to pay for the ER visit so he allowed me to wait till the morning and go to the IV Lab at American Fork Hospital.

Me feeling like poo in my hospital bed. Looking forward to a Nap while I get my fluid though!

The nurse said my veins were terrible! I always have great veins, but I guess when you are dehydrated they get flat and really little! Even know I didn't make it easy for her, she got it on the 1st try!

After a nap and 2 bags of fluid I was actually less nauseous. But because I didn't have to pee they tested my urine again and I was STILL DEHYDRATED! So.....

They started me on bag #3!! About halfway through bag #3 I DEFINITELY had to pee!! Then after I was done I noticed my fingers were so swollen, and I was sweating...which was weird because I wasn't hot. But my tissue was so saturated with fluid it started to come out of my pores! But I would rather be over hydrated than dehydrated any day!

The nurses said that when I was finally Hydrated again I would start to feel better....that was a lie. I still feel the same but it is better for the baby, so I am happy!

13 Week Appointment

6/3/10

Brian and I went to see Dr. Haskett for the first time last week.

This is Dr. Haskett

How did I choose my OB you may ask? Well I will tell you. I looked up all of the OBGYN's that are covered by my insurance, and then slimmed it down to the OBGYN's that Deliver at American Fork Hospital. I found Dr. Haskett as well as a few others. I looked them up and checked their qualifications, and read all of the reviews on http://www.ratemds.com/. I had it down to Dr. Haskett and Dr. Jones who is in the same office. But out of the 2 of them Dr. Haskett is better looking which led me to thinking, I believe that Good Looking Doctors deliver Good Looking Babies, so using that logic why wouldn't I pick the Handsome one? When we went in to my Appt. on Thursday I was pleasantly surprised because he is even more handsome in person than he is in his picture. He is a young silver fox and he has a BEAUTIFUL family.

Dr. Haskett's Nurse is named Hailey. She is so cute! I had met with her before and she just has a way of putting me at ease. I can tell that she really cares and listens to what I am saying. She was asking me if I was feeling better now that I am out of the 1st Trimester, and I told her that I was still super sick and throwing up 1-2 times daily. That paired with the fact that I have lost 22 pounds in the last 8 weeks made her really concerned. She talked to Dr. Haskett and he wanted me to be tested for dehydration. So I had to drink a whole bottle of water before I left my appointment so I could give them another sample. (which I totally almost pee'd my pants when Dr. Haskett was doing the Ultra Sound because my bladder was full and he was pushing on it!) Anyway here are the pictures of the 1st time we ever saw our baby!

(please excuse the poor quality of the pictures, this is the picture of the pictures I took with my cell phone)

*Disclaimer* I may call the baby "HE" but we don't know what the baby is, and we won't know for another 6 weeks. So don't get too excited! :)

This is when Dr.H was measuring how big Baby M is. Baby M measured at 13 weeks and 1 Day when this was taken. Baby M is about the size of a peach . (you can't really see the head in any of these pictures because Dr.H said Baby's head is angled toward the back of my uterus)

In this picture Dr.H was measuring how fast Baby M's heartbeat is. It is beating 176 Beats Per Minute. (which is perfect) where the line going vertical intersects with the horizontal line is where the heart is. Baby's head is on the left side of the vertical line, it is the little dark circle. And our baby was laying on its tummy in this picture with the body on the right. Brian's sister Tonya pointed out to us that you can see Baby's little legs bent with the little foot in the air! Just as if baby is just lounging around in there, I must be pretty comfy!!

This is when our baby got irritated! He started to wiggle and roll over onto his back and stick his legs straight up in the air! The legs are a faint line, but you can tell our baby definitely has my hips already! (poor thing)

In this one our baby has his back to us like he was mad we were looking at him and bugging him! You can see the little baby Bum on the right with his 2 little legs all stretched out! It was so fun to see Baby-M moving around, and wiggling and showing us a little bit of his personality!

I was so excited to finally get to see my baby, because I have been so bloody sick, and seeing my baby so healthy and happy made it all worth it! But I wish I could tell the Baby that I would still be comfy if I felt good!

At the end of the appointment they tested me for dehydration and I was REALLY DEHYDRATED! Dr.H wanted to send me to the ER for IV FLUIDS but I didn't want to pay for an ER Visit so he agreed to let me go to the IV Lab at AF Hospital the next day. ( I will post about that later) Dr.H said that if I come in at my 17 week appointment and I am still dehydrated he will hospitalize me. So right now I am trying to drink as much water as I can without throwing up!

Cousins

"Cousins are just Sisters God forgot to give us"

There must have been something in the air this year...

There are so many people having babies this year! I am really excited because I have always thought that by the time I started having kids they would have no cousins to play with. That has been so upsetting for me because I love my cousins!

In fact my cousin Jessica has been my best friend for YEARS! We always talked about how we are connected at the hip, and that wasn't too far off base. I rarely remember having sleepovers with anyone else but her (and Kaylie Palmer) and whenever we were in trouble we were usually together! (I can still hear my Aunt Edie yelling, "HEATHER LEE....JESSICA LYNN!!!!!" it is so terrifying!) When her family was going through a rough time I was there for her, and when my dad had cancer and my family was struggling she was there for me. We were there for each other at a time when we both felt completely alone. We were then roommates at USU and I honestly don't know what I would have done without her. I mean my Pilonidal Cyst wasn't going to pack itself! (also a shout out my other roommates kiri and Ashley for being the spread-ers) We went to class together, partied together, wrote our missionaries together, and when we had nothing else to do we studied together! lol We were both each other's "Maid of Honor" at our weddings (to the missionaries we wrote at USU by the way) and I was able to be in the temple with her when she was endowed and when her and Mac were sealed for all time and eternity. (she was at the temple when I was married but couldn't come inside yet.) In fact the day Brian and I were sealed we forgot our Marriage License at home in Orem and Jess had to run to my house, grab it, and drive it all the way to the Jordan River Temple so we could get married! I know that no matter where we live, or where we go, we will always be best friends. I firmly believe that the only reason we are COUSINS instead of SISTERS is because there is no way either one of our moms could have handled both of us! ha ha

Anyway enough of that tangent and back to my reason for for this post. Brian's Brothers Jeremy and his wife Karen as well as his brother Ben and wife Cassie are having babies this year! Karen is due the end of August and Cassie is due the end of September, then me in December. Also Brian's BFF from the mission Nathan and Angela are due in December and my BFF Ben and Crystal are due in November! Lots and Lots of babies! I have more friends that are due this year too but I can't remember when! lol anyway I am so very excited because even though my family is pretty much finished having babies, my baby will still have cousins, and what a blessing that truly is!

Sick Sick Sick

*DISCLAIMER* If you currently have, or previously have had a tumor I apologize in advance!

Have you ever seen the show, "I didn't know I was Pregnant"? Well I have, and I honestly believed these women. that they had no idea until one night they get up to go to the bathroom and *POP* out comes the baby in the toilet... I am here to say they are BIG FAT LIARS!! There is no way on God's Green Earth that they really don't know they are growing a person inside them. Being pregnant is like having a Tumor....
  1. There is a "Growth" that is sucking all of your energy
  2. You Vomit ALL OF THE TIME (p.s. "morning sickness" is a lie, it is All Freaking Day Sickness!)
  3. Some of your hair falls out
  4. You are so tired and weak that all you want to do is sleep
  5. Headaches
  6. Nausea
  7. Bloating
  8. Emotions are out of control

Pretty much I am shocked that more Women (or unsuspecting husbands) don't die from this... Because that is how I have felt for the last 10 weeks. The good news is, my Doctor told me that a lot of women start to feel better after you are 12 weeks along. So that is what I am holding onto! Only 2 more weeks of feeling like junk all of the time, then Wah-La! I will get that pregnancy "glow" everyone talks about! It will be a nice change from glowing green all of the time! lol~ Oh and we go to Cancun 2 weeks from tomorrow! We are very excited, and Brian is hoping that I am not sick while we are there, because that would definitely put a damper on our fun in the sun!!

Pregnancy...The April Fools Curse!!

The April Fools Curse

So for April Fools Day I decided to play a little joke on Brian. I called and told him I was Pregnant. To which he responded with, "HUH......." Followed by a very long silence. I then said, "Well, what are you thinking?" and he said, "I have no idea." Then more silence. I couldn't stand it any longer so I said, "Well do you want to know what I am thinking?...........I am thinking that it is APRIL FOOLS DAY!! Bah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!" I couldn't stop laughing and he then informed me that he had no idea it was April Fools Day. To which I laughed at even harder! Bri later informed me that it was not a funny joke, and I told him I still thought it was funny. Little did I know how "funny" it really was....

*Fast Forward to Easter weekend in Montana*

We drove to Montana to spend Easter with my Dad, we spent Friday going to the Candy store in P-Burg, then the Car Museum and Old Prison in Deerlodge. I am very prone to get car sick, and after all of the driving I was 7 shades of green. After we got home on Friday we went to Corey and Glenna's to dye Easter eggs, and have a BBQ. I didn't eat anything because I still wasn't feeling well from all of the driving. We had a great time in Montana and we left for the long drive home Sunday afternoon. When we left Drummond I got a little watery eyed, which quickly turned into crying, that morphed into uncontrollable sobbing! Brian just patted my leg and wiped my tears. (He is used to it because I have been known to be a little emotional once in a while! lol)
I took a nap and when I woke up I was fine. The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful.

On Tuesday I decided to take a Pregnancy Test because I was a little queasy when I woke up, and I was also 2 days late. I pee'd on the little stick then set it on the side of the tub and got ready for work. I was walking out the door when I remembered the test. I went and checked and it said PREGNANT! I almost passed out and was in total shock! I have taken a million Pregnancy Test and one has never came out positive, so I was not expecting it! I then realized if I called and told Brian there was no way he would believe me after my little prank on April Fools Day. I went to work and called and asked him on a date.

We went to Texas Roadhouse and I brought a gift bag full of presents for him. Our waitress asked us if it was someones birthday and we said no, that it was just a surprise present. She then told Brian to look away, held the menu up to her face and mouthed, "Are you Pregnant?" and I shook my head yes. She then mouthed, "And he has NO IDEA??" and I again smiled and shook my head yes. She giggled and told us he was not allowed to open it unless she was there. She came back from getting our drinks and she said, so when are you going to open it, and Brian looked at me and I said well you can right now if you would like. He opened it and the first thing he took out was a green bib that said, "I love Daddy" on it. He looked at the bib then looked at me, then looked back at the bib. He then said, "Is this for REAL?" and I nodded. He then took a deep breath, gave me 2 thumbs up and said, "We're having a baby!" it was very cute. He then took everything else out out the bag, which included, a plaque that says, "A Father is Someone you Look Up to no matter how Tall you Grow" and 2 baby books.

So I am 6 weeks along, and I am due on December 9th! We are very excited, and look forward to embarking on this new adventure! But beware of the Jokes you play on April Fools! Because you could be struck like us with the "APRIL FOOLS CURSE!!"
