Living a More Productive Life

Whenever I make Goals for the New year I like to have a theme to go with it. This year I have Chosen Living a More Productive Life.
The talk "Reflections on a Consecrated Life" by D. Todd Christofferson Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in the October 2010 General Conference. Found Here: http://lds.org/general-conference/2010/10/reflections-on-a-consecrated-life?lang=eng
Has been coming to my mind for a while now, and I feel like I need to change the way I am spending my time. This quote really slapped me in the face, and I feel like I need to make a change.

“Every day, every hour, every minute of your span of mortal years must sometime be accounted for. And it is in this life that you walk by faith and prove yourself able to choose good over evil, right over wrong, enduring happiness over mere amusement. And your eternal reward will be according to your choosing."

So with that in mind here are my goals for 2012:

  • Go to Bed at 10pm

  • Wake up with Brian and Read Scriptures as a Couple

  • Exercise 3 Times per Week

  • Have an Attitude of Gratitude, continued from last years Goals, (by Keeping Thank You Cards and Stamps in my Purse so I make sure I don't forget to Show my Gratitude to People)

  • Be more "Jen Like" (Jen is a girl I work with and is seriously the nicest person I know, like she never says a bad word about anyone, and she isn't a sassy pants, and she never suffers from word-vomit, you know when you say stuff before you can put it through your filter.)

  • Run a 5K (No Walking)

  • Have a More Consistent Schedule for Andrew

So those are my goals, I feel like I can achieve them, but at the same time it will force me to learn and grow as a person.Wish Me Luck!

What are your Goals for 2012?

Fix N Up the House

I have been wanting to paint our kitchen for a while now. So I decided that this week was as good a week as ever. We have a Vinyard Theme, so I thought we would do a Purple Wall! I thought it was a great idea but I wasn't so sure what Brian would think about it. I have always believed that it is better beg forgivness than to ask permission, so following that idea, I waited for Brian to go to work then worked super hard to get it finished before he got home. It turned out BEAUTIFUL and Brian liked it too!

After how good the Kitchen turned out I decided I would also paint the Bathroom.

Clifford is ALIVE and WELL!!

Remember my 1st car Clifford? You know the "Big Red Dawg"? Well I sold him last year, because it was time to grow up and get a car that was baby appropriate. So I found a good home and sold him to a girl that is going to SUU. I felt ok about it because I figured that is where Covertible cars go to "retire". Somewhere warm, where the sun shines lots, and where he can be enjoyed by another crazy college student that will hopefully love him half as much as I did. Well tears ran down my face as Cifford drove off into the sunset, and I figured I would never see him again.

Fast forward to today, where I get a text from my brother in law Ben. He is a mechanic in Orem. He starts asking me questions about Clifford, like the kind of stuff memories are made of, that make him unique. Then I get this Picture message from Ben...

Clifford is ALIVE & WELL!! Ben happened to get him in the shop to do Saftey and Emissions! I actually teared up, seeing him again, and knowing that he has been well taken care of. So hooray for 1st cars and all the wonderful things you get to experience in them. I will always love you Clifford, and I am glad to see you are doing well.

Good Intentions

Good Intentions...I am full of them, and I hear the road to hell is paved with them.

There are many things I really want to do, and am planning to do, but have yet to get done. Things like, Keeping a pregnancy journal, sewing misc. projects, cleaning and painting the baby's room, redecorating our bedroom, blogging everyday in August following the fun list (that lasted like 3 days lol) water aerobics, planting flowers that will come up next spring, cleaning out the garage, scrapbooking, sending out cards to people I have been thinking about, and the list goes on and on. So sorry if I don't accomplish all the things you expect me to, bare with me I am trying the best I can.

Life Lessons

With all of the drama that has been going on with my family and friends over the course of the last year, I have come to realize a few things. First, no marriage is perfect. And it takes both parties working in the same direction, with the same goals, in a loving manner to get where you want to be. Second, every member of a family has their own personality. And just because you are family doesn’t mean you will get along.

I have also come to accept that no matter how bad I want a relationship with someone, if they aren’t willing to work for one, it isn’t going to happen. I have also learned that some relationships are just brain damage, and will literally suck energy and life from you.

My cousin Charlotte posted this poem as her status on Facebook the other day, and I really liked it.

As we grow up,
We learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down...
Probably will.
You will have your heart broken
more than once
and it's harder every time.
You'll break hearts too,
so remember how it felt when yours was broken.
You'll fight with your best friend,
and lose friends you thought you'd always have.have.
You'll blame a new love for things an old one did.
You'll cry because time is passing too fast
and you'll eventually lose someone you love.
So take too many pictures,
Laugh too much,
and love like you have never been hurt
Because every sixty seconds you spend upset
is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

This poem is full of all kinds of “hard truths”. But life is hard, and we need to learn all of these lessons one way or another. I have decided to be happier on the inside. I think I am a pretty positive person, but I have found myself crying over dwindling relationships that I will probably never get back. No matter how many times I have written letters, sent cards, and left phone messages, it is all for not, when I am the only one working for it.

I am at a point in my life where I have realized; Who matters and who never did, who won't anymore, and who always will. So, I won’t worry about people from my past that made me frown, there's a reason why they didn't make it into my future!

I want to say a final goodbye to my fickle friends and a GREAT BIG THANK YOU, to those of you who have stuck with me, and continue to buoy me up when I am too tired to swim! I love you guys!

*Sorry if I seemed to ramble in this post, this has been on my mind for a while*
